ABOUT US
MISSION STATEMENT
The Mission of Widefield School District 3 Parks & Recreation is to create, promote, foster, and maintain programs, activities and facilities that positively impact the quality of life for all segments of our community.
PHILOSOPHY
The primary purpose of the WSD3 Parks & Recreation is to provide the best programs for the most people. While we will always seek to offer a wide range of programs, we recognize that we must live within our budget and believe that the highest priority for programs should be those that are educationally sound as well as personally meaningful to the community. We believe our programs must emphasize participation, value to participants, safety, equal opportunity, and lifelong skill development.
ADVISORY BOARD
The WSD3 Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meets the second Thursday of each month. The meetings are held at the Parks & Recreation at 6pm. The board consists of up to seven members, to include one member of the WSD3 Board of Education and up to six community members. Current members are: Mary Burgin (President), Erin Gilmore (Vice President), Daryl Grantz, Kathy Grantz, Vicki Ross, Neil Nelson (Board of Education), Keionna Curea (WHS Student rep), Mercedes McIntyre (MRHS student rep), Dayton Skull (DHS student rep). YOUTH SPORTS
The Youth Sports department is committed to offering positive recreation and sport programs to all children regardless of skill level. The programs will emphasize fun, sportsmanship and skill development.
Throughout the year we offer many sport leagues and lessons for kids as young as 4 years old. From tennis, baseball, softball and t-ball to soccer, volleyball, basketball and flag football, everyone can find a sport they enjoy playing. Our goal is for kids to have fun and love being active & healthy!
If your child wants to play with a particular coach or friend, please make that request when registering. Please note that we do not allow kids to waive up or down – they must play in their appropriate age/grade level.
We couldn’t do it without our volunteer coaches!
If you coach, your child’s registration fee will be waived. All coaches will be required to provide information for a confidential background check. Please sign-up to coach at time of registration or contact Nicole Reeves at [email protected] or Andrew O’Such at [email protected].
Youth Sports Late Registration & Refund Policy
A $10 late fee will be imposed after the registration deadline and placement is not guaranteed.
Full refunds will be granted before the first game. Refund requests made after the first game and before the second game are subject to a $10 processing charge. After the second game no refunds will be given.
We recognize that players need to withdraw from a sport due to unforeseen circumstances. Registration fees are based on a variety of cost determined by the number of teams and number of players registered on each team. Because many of these costs must be paid in advance, player withdrawals will result in a cost to Widefield Parks & Recreation. We appreciate your understanding.
ADULT SPORTS
Adult Sports -Our mission is to provide fun recreational and competitive leagues for all adults. We will create an atmosphere of sportsmanship and fair play, treating everyone involved as an integral part of the game.
We are proud to offer a variety of Adult Sports; cornhole, pickleball, softball, and volleyball!
Adult leagues are open to anyone 18 years and older who have graduated high school (or the equivalent). Please be ready to provided your team name, team manager’s contact information and team fee in full at time of registration.
Individuals wishing to play and not associated with a team may go online or call to be placed on the “Free Agent’s” list. This list will be made available to teams in search of players. Play is not guaranteed.
